Red Beans and Rice

I am not ordinarily a big fan of beans, but THESE! I first had them when we visited New Orleans and I can’t get enough of them. It’s not necessary to cook them in a pressure cooker, I just do it this way because it’s so much quicker. You can follow the same recipe and put all the ingredients (except the sausage, rice, hot sauce and green onions) in a crock pot and cook it all day, too.

The Best Brownies

These are the best brownies you will ever eat and possibly one of the simplest recipes as well.  I make them with a fudge icing, which can be really tricky, but worth the effort if you are willing to give it a try. Everywhere I’ve ever taken these, they have been a huge hit.  These…

Sausage Rustica

Sausage Rustica used to be one of my favorite dishes at Olive Garden, but they don’t have it on the menu anymore.  The proper name is “Sausage and Pepper Rustica”,  but I shortened it.   So I tracked the recipe down on the internet, because I just had to have it.  However, I’m not a big fan…

French Silk Pie

If you want to knock their socks off this summer with your own special pie, consider giving this recipe a try.  I remember the first time I had French Silk pie and the amazing flavor and texture of it; so rich and so smooth. I couldn’t put my finger on what it was that made that…

Pepper Soup

Pepper soup is a beef based soup recipe that I made up years ago to help combat the cold and flu.  I have considered using chicken stock and chicken in the past just because Chicken Soup has a reputation for curative powers regarding the common cold, but I like the beef version so well.  I…

The Art of Meatballs

Meatballs: Meatballs are a very versatile dish that can be a main course or an appetizer.  They can be made in various sizes out of any kind of ground meat or combination of ground meat.  You just add eggs, bread crumbs and spices.  To make it gluten free, try oatmeal or rice to hold them…

Hamburger Soup

Hamburger soup is a basically a variation on vegetable soup.  Actually, it IS vegetable soup with hamburger in it.  This is what some cooks call a “dump” soup.  You start off with your stock and your meat and then you just “dump” any leftover vegetables in it.  A lot of times, I might have a…

Potato Soup

There is nothing that will warm you up inside on a cold, gloomy day like a  bowl of hot potato soup.  I prefer what I call “virgin” potato soup as opposed to those recipes that load up the soup as one would a baked potato.  Many restaurants offer  delicious varieties of this soup.  Sometimes they use…

Irish Nachos

Irish Nachos are just sliced baked potatoes, loaded. They are served with sour cream and pico de gallo, with cheese and bacon in every bite.  It is a delicious little snack if you like baked potatoes.  In our house, we have it as a meal. The perfect thing to make this in is a Pampered…

Alfredo Sauce

Alfredo is just the name of a sauce that can be put on any kind of pasta.  There is Fettuccini Alfredo and Alfredo Linguini and Angel Hair Pasta Alfredo.  The pasta is defined by the sauce, which is why I am only going to tell you how to make the homemade sauce.  Choose whatever you…
